WiiKey Help

There is no need for a Wii mod chip anymore!
The New Wii Unlock Trick performs the same as the WiiKey does!
Welcome to http://wiikey.wikidot.com/start
This is the wiki for wikidot.com. This wiki is free to edit, and I encourage you to edit it. I've made the basis for compatibility lists of the different Wii and Wiikey media . You are free to add your own experiences with the different games and disc. Please do not run games you do not own and obey your country's laws.
I don't mind people linking to it, not even in reviews, but please give due credit ;).
I want to thank everyone who contributes to the wiki very much. When everyone pitches in and adds the community can grow and we all benefit! So a big thank you to all contributers big and small.
One last thing, Bug reports can be made on this page and general chatter (naturally it has to be related to the wiki) can be placed on the community portal. Thanks for keeping the wiki clean :).
I'm not a member of the Wiikey family, I just own one and when I was getting started I needed help and that is why I made this to help all the noobs coming up.
-Michael (TILT MFC )
P.S. If you have any comments or etc. you can also make them on my blog/news page. If you have any questions regarding the different mod chips or etc. you can try to find the answers at the psx-scene forums page.

So now I have My Wiikey installed now what?
Well first off let me say congrats on modding your Wii, with the wiikey. When I first got my wiikey in I had no idea what to do so maybe I can help many other ppl who need help.
#1 So you modded your Wii well first off, I would say make sure you are running latest firmware for the Wii it self. The Wii is currently running on 3.1
#2 Now that your firmware is current lets get the wiikey going. Go to psx-scene and Download your wiikey config disc v1.3 (or 1.2). I would recommend the GCOS version that is already padded/filechop'd. Once you burn that to a Working DVD (check list below for working media) insert it into you're wii. Select the Game channel and hit Start with the Wii mote once the GAMECUBE screen Appears . Now Bootdisc, go to config and set up region you should be good to go.
#3 Now that you have a 1.3 config disc you should Update the Wiikey Firmware. now many ppl say if you don't need the 1.9 beta don't get it. But for myself I just updated right away so I wouldn't have to deal with it. So now go Download the Update v1.9g BETA Padded/FileChop'd versions and Update your system
#4 now you should be ready to go, go get some games and play away.
Q: How to Rip and Burn Games for use with the wiikey
A: Well First let me say this Wikidot.com and Myself don't support WAREZ, illegal Downloading , or Bootlegging video games or any other sort of media. If you do need to produce a BACK UP of a Game you already own, because you have kids and you don't want them to ruin the disc. Well I think that is wrong too. not sure, before you decide on doing this please check and follow all rules, laws and regulations that deal with backing up media in your home Town, City , State, Country.
That being said…
To Make a Back up you will need,
#1 Wii w/ wiikey installed
#2 A original Disc (GC or Wii )
#3 Blank Media DVD +- R or RW
#4 a SD Gekco or a USB Gecko
#5 a Gamecube Controller
#6 A Copy of Softdev's SDDVD dump tool version 0.1g
#7 HJ-Split by FreeByte.com
#8 SD Card (I used a 2GB SanDisk)
#9 mgBurn (free program to burn image files) ( I dont use this i use nero)
Guide
Step 1: (Creating Boot Disk with DVD Dump tool added) Open WiiKey Utilities. Click the 'Advanced Build/Burn' tab. Select your appropriate region. Click the 'Add DOL' button and select Softdev's SDDVD dump tool that your un-rared to your desktop. From here I clicked the button 'Create ISO' and it created an image file located in the "isos" folder inside the WiiKeyUtilites folder in your "C:" drive. Then I used ImgBurn to burn that ISO onto a DVD to place inside my Wii's Drive.
Step 2: (Dumping) Insert the disc you just made into your Wii and start it up through the Game channel. Once it starts, use a GameCube controller to click on "GCOS MB". Then click on "Boot DVD", then select 'A'. Click on "Dols/", click on "sddvd-01g.dol" and follow the instructions on the screen (now would be a good time to insert the SD Card). This will format your SD card and prepare it for dumping. Then insert original game when promted to, and it will continue to dump the game onto the SD card in chunks. Once a chunk is done, you can then bring the SD card to your computer and Cut and Paste the files it creates into a folder on your computer. Once all chunks have been saved onto your computer you may continue to next step.
Step 3: (Creating ISO) Now open "hjsplit". Click 'Join'. Click on 'Input File' and select the FIRST chunck of the game (note: all chunks MUST BE in the same folder!). The Output should automatically be filled in. Then click on 'Start'. Once it finishes go into that folder and you'll see the newly created image file of the game. You may continue to burn that file onto a DVD to later be played on your WII!
Also, you may be able to use the WiiKey Utilities program to also 'dump' the chunks onto your computer by clicking on the "Dump SD Data" button located in the 'Disc Backup' tab of that program. Follow the prompts if you do it this way and when the last chunk has been dumped, it will continue to create the image for you that you can then burn
The following is for Wii's with the D2CKey
- People with Pal versions of the Wii try the Pal version of the Bootloader 3 that Magenta put together for us!
1. Instead of using WiiVision's Wiikey Utilities v1.5; download this file BootableDisc3.rar (attached below) and unrar it into your C: drive.
2. Place SoftDev's sddvd-01g.dol file into the "my_bootable_disc" located in the C: drive. Also place a file in the same folder that is at least 500MB. It doesn't matter what it is, it's just for padding.
3. Open up the command prompt by typing in "cmd" (without the quotes) into the run command (click Start, then click on Run). Once the command promt has opened, type in "cd\" (without the quotes) and then hit enter. This will get you to the root directory which is "C:\". Now type in "mkisofs.exe -R -J -G C:\my_bootable_disc\gbi.hdr -no-emul-boot -b sddvd-01g.dol -o GameCopy.iso C:\my_bootable_disc" (without the quotes) then hit enter.
4. Now there should be a file called GameCopy.iso in your C: drive. Just burn that with ImgBurn and place it in your wii. Once you start up this disc, it'll go staight into the DVD Dumping screen.
This has been tested to work with a D2C Wii modded with a D2CKey and a D2B Wii modded with a WiiKey. Both Wii's with the latest firmware.

Q:Can I use the Nintendo Wii Controller to play GC Games?
A:No, that would require the Software to be changed.
Q:Do you need a GameCube Memory card to make saves?
A:Yes, I tried my Gecko SD Adapter and it said something like insert correct memory card.
You can pick up 64 or 128mb Gamecube memory cards for dirt cheap.
Q:How do I rip a GameCube game to P.C?
A:I think it's the same as with a Wii Game.
(Go to the I put the Wii game into my DVD Burner but it won't rip, how do I rip it? Question.)
Q:How do I burn a GameCube game to DVD-R/DVD+R?
A:After downloading or ripping a GameCube Game you should end up with a .gcm file, you can change it straight to .iso and then burn it like a regular Wii .iso.
(Go to the How do I burn Wii Iso's to a DVD? Question.)
Q:How do I set up a MultiGame(GCOS) Disc?
A:You can put a maximum of 3 games onto one 4.7GB DVD-R, this is because the small GC Games only held 1.4GB.
Download Wii Ui, Link:WiiUIv130
Extract the .rar file and put your GC .iso's in the same folder.
Open Wii UI.exe and Choose your Region and how many games you want.
(Make sure your have changed the Region before going ahead. Use RegionFrii Gui.)
Now click on Make ISO and type in the name you want the ISO to be and press save, then choose the games you want to have and click save, one by one.
In the end you should have a .ISO that you can burn straight to disc.
You can extract the ISO using this program:I will get a link to another site later
It's by djiraan.
Also Emu_kidd has released a program that deletes the dummy files from GC iso's allowing you to store more than 3 games onto one disc, you will have to search about this yourself.
(does anyone know what Unscramble ISO does?)
Q:Do I have to use the small DVD's?
A:You can use the same DVD's as you use for the Wii Games.
Q:If I download a GameCube game that uses 2 discs what should I do?
A:I would burn both of them to separate DVD's just incase you need to swap them.
Q:I have a GC ISO that isn't 1,425,760 KB, will it still work?
A:It depends, I burnt my games as a single GCOS MultiDisc and they worked.
But I have read that they should still work unless they are corrupt, so don't worry if it's not the right size.
The same can't be said for Wii ISO's.

Now this list is to help you in the right direction, Your burns working are decided by many factors . for example youre burner, burn speed, background apps all play into if the disk will work. Many ppl claim not to be able to un-rar files while burning. I have no problems at all burning on max speed, Unraring or Joining RAR files. So in the end it just has to deal with your setup
